I’ve used Leupold scopes for years. Recently I was looking for a scope for my Volquartsen 17hmr. I wanted fairly high magnification, 30 mm tube and didn’t want too big of objective lens in order to keep the scope mounted low on the rifle. In the past I’d have gone with a VX II 6-18 but found Leupold was no longer making them. That’s when I saw the Freedom 6-18, not having held one in hand I was a little reluctant to order but I took a chance and let me tell you I couldn’t be happier that I did. I like it more then the old VX II’s, 30mm tube, super clear optics, and once you’ve been spoiled with the side focus you won’t want to be twisting on the old objective lens AO’s. Perfect fit on the Volquartsen when coupled with Leupold’s low back country rings. To sum it up, Do I like this scope? I now own 4 of them, so YES I do!
