This scope is very good for the money and comes with Leupold Alumina scope caps and a throw-lever which are very nice as included accessories. The HD glass coating is good but not stunning as far as color definition and image sharpness goes compared to the Vortex GEN II HD(3-18x)glass but is also near half the price. There is no doubt it definitely has high-definition glass and makes the color definition and image sharpness on non-HD scopes look bad. This is going to help gauge the quality of game animals at distances beyond 350 yards at low light. The illuminated firedot duplex reticle is a near perfect all around hunting reticle being thinner than the average duplex reticle found on most hunting scopes yet usably thicker than a fine-plex. The illumination settings are good for low-light all the way to bright mid-day use and is easy to adjust in the field by clicking a soft button rather than turning a dial setting like most illuminated scopes. After hunting (2x-10x) and (3x-12x)scopes for many years, I really like the 6x erectors in the new generation (3x-18x) scopes for all around hunting. The 3x is perfect for tight woods and the 18x is great for looking at and grading racks on game at 400 yards on out on powerline easements and ag-fields at low light. This is really where HD glass benefits the hunter. The combination of all these qualities makes for a near perfect all-around hunting scope. This scope will spoil you and will make it very hard to go back to lesser scopes on your all-purpose hunting rifle. Also, MADE IN THE USA!
Purchased this scope for a new rifle project. Overall size is larger than expected, but reasonable for a 30mm tube. Clarity is good and installation was relatively uneventful (needed high Leupold QR rings for Steyr Scout). Have not sighted it in yet, but it appears to be a rugged scope that should perform well. Only hiccup so far - scope battery was very weak and had to be replaced with new. This should be an easy problem for Leupold to fix.
