I bought this vault quite awhile ago, but decided I needed quick access in the event of an emergency. I accessed a YouTube video for installation instead of the directions that came with it. And since I installed it on an interior closet wall I cut a piece of plywood to catch multiple studs for solid anchoring. You need to buy a 9V battery for use of the keypad. It works flawlessly once you install it. Nothing like a pandemic to mobilize me with the installation. As a single woman who was in LE for several decades, it’s best to be prepared and hopefully never need it for home defense but if it’s panic or prepare, it’s best to be prepared. This vault is high quality and a great value. I plan on buying another I like it so much.
I bought several of these when Costco offered them before. It is an excellent product which also has the ability to turn off the beep beep beep. This gives you the ability to not advertise to an intruder that you are accessing your gun. But the downside is that you won't know when the battery inside the unit is about to run out of juice. Additionally, the unit is fairly power-thristy. So it is a good idea to replace the battery at least every 9 months. (I think their literature says 6 months though.)
And as embarrassed I am to admit, I did not change the battery in the unit that I had silenced. And having forgotten where I put the key, I called them to get a replacement key. They immediately sent out a set at no charge.
This is a great product and has even better after market support.
I bought this two months ago, and it has exceeded all expectations. Easy, flexible mounting allows nondescript location in a spot that works perfectly for quick bedside access. This was the fastest-opening single-gun safe I found -- originally I had a shelf-top biometric safe that was took 5 seconds to open. The Speedvault opens instantaneously, and with the ridiculous number of options for programming the code, I find I don't miss the biometrics at all. The interior light and ability to silence keypad tones make this the perfect choice for me. Fit, finish, and overall quality are superb. I'm considering buying another one to mount in an alternate location. Highly recommended!!
I bought this about two years ago and have used it regularly since. I keep my carry piece in here and keep it in a closet near the door. Makes it easy to grab and go and to put it back when I return. Very handy. Plus, being in the closet near the door, it's handy to grab when the doorbell rings. Works flawlessly and discreetly. It is a little finicky with 9 volt batteries. Sometimes you may have to try a few different ones. I agree that it makes a little bit of a clunk noise when it drops, but at that point, I am already armed!
Fun to open! my wife and I open and close almost daily. you need to practice with this just like you practice with your weapon. I yell "zombie" then I time my wife to see how long it takes her to open and draw weapon with the laser on. Let's put it this way....I feel pretty happy we have this lock box. I plan on buying 3 more today for my daughters! There was a comment that the door clunks when it opens...that is true. but it you practice with this, you would be aware and you can lower it gently or go for the quick grab right after the clunk and the perpetrator would not have any idea what hit him. this is a great bedside safe!..i wish I was part owner in the company.
