Useful tool to have in the field when hunting. Also great for scanning the backyard for skunks before letting the dogs out or checking areas of the home for heat loss.
Really good resolution, battery life has never been an issue, and you can record directly on the device.
It is a little big/bulky compared to some other units but that is the price you pay for the image quality.
Easy to use and performs significantly better than the vast majority of cheaper thermals i have used.
Hardware is very nice. Beautiful fit and finish. Nice box and presentation. The case it comes with is the best i have seen for a free case. I would pay over $50 for the case easily if it was an accessory. Very very nice case. So for the hardware. Very hard to complain. Screen is beautiful, detection is great. Size is slightly large, but to be fair it packs a ton of features in this unit. 5 years ago it wouldn't have been so easy to hold with one hand. My big problems hardware wise is the buttons. The layout is nice, but its difficult to manage by feel alone. You spend all your time with the center 3 buttons, and it is very difficult to tell them apart at night. Would have liked to see more separation or something that tells my finger is on the center button. Software is fast and responsive. The new interface is nice and pretty intuitive. There is a fast access for modes. Think I would have rather the fast access been used for the color pallets. This is obviously a design decision and im sure they contemplated it. To be fair, the color pallets are the first menu item so easy enough to access quickly. I cant seem to get the wifi connected, the Bluetooth connects fine. Not sure the purpose of the Bluetooth. Seems like the app wants to use wifi. Directions are garbage. More like a quick start guide. Go to FLIRs website and download the manual. Although their manual is a little lacking as well. No info on what app to download or how to connect. Would have liked a little more documentation for a $3k unit. Its nice to be able to run on 2, 4, or 6 batteries. I plan to run on 4. Dont need the runtime. If running on 2 batteries, they do get warm after a short time. Overall it will perform well for hunting and critter location. Can also use it around the house since there is no optical mag on this unit. Worth the money. Hopeful a firmware update fixes a few of the software issues.
